Are you done staring at Ashley Tisdale’s new sparkler? Have you pinned it to your “Someday” Pinterest board? Good. Now, let’s talk about it.
The actress debuted the mini planet orbiting her ring finger at the InStyle summer soiree in L.A. Wednesday night. We have to admit we were expecting something funky, unique and even a little bit out-there (maybe we’re just used to all the unique engagement rings stars are wearing lately). But the Tiz surprised us, because the bling is pretty traditional.
Traditional: yes. Understated: not at all. The ring features what appears to be a mega-carat cushion-cut diamond … surrounded by a halo of small diamonds on a platinum band … covered in diamonds. And if you look closely, you’ll notice that she seems to be teaming her engagement bling with another ring, a simple gold band.
So, who’s responsible for this stunner? Annie Automatic musician Christopher French, who proposed to the 28-year-old star (after less than a year of dating) on top of the Empire State Building in N.Y.C. She shared the big news with fans, Tweeting, “Best night of my life. We’re on top of the world.”

Earlier this year, Tisdale described her type as “the dark, mysterious bad boy” and said she’s “definitely old-school when it comes to dating.” (Her previous two-year relationship with music video director Scott Speer ended in December 2011.)
